Sane Lane Republicans: Your Party is Gone. Your Country Needs You.

YOU can save us from madness.

You are a moderate Republican, still driving in the Sane Lane, still living on the Home Planet. Please consider: Your party is gone. Its values are gone. Its history is gone. Its leadership is gone. Its aspirations are gone. There is nothing left except a cruel, lawless conman who tramples on our Constitution, our laws, our courts, our institutions, and a supine Congress. He is systematically turning the United States into a police state.

Now the President has federalized the California National Guard, usurping the Governor of California’s rightful control. Opposing this is not a liberal whine; it’s the law (See posse comitatus on Justia). To compound this abuse, he has deployed active-duty Marines to the streets of Los Angeles, a mission for which they are neither trained nor prepared. In the United States, we do not use our military to face off against our own people. We are not a banana republic. We don't need another Kent State.

This is not about liberal versus conservative. This is about lawlessness at the highest level. There is no insurrection. There is no invasion. These are fabrications that excuse what this President has always wanted: to use the military to punish people he doesn’t like in states he doesn’t like. There were certainly riots in Los Angeles, and riots cannot be excused or tolerated. They must be put down, but legally, first by the police, and if necessary the Guard at the direction of their governor. That’s how it’s done here.

So here is the second thing I would like to say. Only YOU can save us because only YOU have enough available votes to turn this national nightmare off. You don’t like Democrats, maybe even despise them. That’s OK, this is America. But YOU must recognize what YOU have become: orphans. Orphans in your own party as it tramples on your own rights.

Help fight this madness. Call your Congressman and Senator. Attend a peaceful protest, even though there will be people there you don’t like. Discuss it in your church. If you can’t bring yourself to vote for a Democrat, don’t vote, or write in a candidate. I’ve voted for the other party; I got over it. And you will, too.
