Greetings, and welcome to my new website. Your publisher is a "conservative Democrat," or what you might call "a liberal with common sense." Didn't know we existed? Yes, we're the true majority of Democrats. Unfortunately we have abdicated our messaging to a small minority of loud interest groups who emphatically do not have common sense. They are small in number, about ten percent of Democrats, but they get a lot of attention and in so doing have done tremendous damage to the Democratic brand.

A few years ago I started to write some moderate left-leaning essays, emails, and advertising in support of Democratic values and candidates, starting with some get-out-the-vote snail mail in 2020 when I was a field representative at the Progressive Turnout Project. Others were published in 2024 in "Join the Union," a SubStack site associated with the Lincoln Project (conservative never-Trumpers).

In the processs I accumulated a portfolio of (according to some) pretty good work, and I'm migrating a lot of it from my first website, factbasedmedia.com, to here. By moving to a new platform, I'll be able to write more and reach out to people directly. I'm starting from ground zero, and it's possible no one will bother to read or view whatever I produce. I am not the New York Times, after all.

I've been highly influenced by Bill Galston's and Elain Kamarck's essay, The New Politics of Evasion, published by the Progressive Policy Institute in 2022. It's a reprise of their 1989 essay in which they argued, "Too many Americans have come to see the [Democratic] party as inattentive to their economic interests, indifferent if not hostile to their moral sentiments, and ineffective in defense of their national security.” Exactly. And in their most recent version they write, "Worst of all, too many of the most vocal Democrats have adopted stances on fraught social issues — policing, immigration, public schools, and others — that repel a majority of Americans." Exactly, again.

So I'll be writing about and to both Republicans (does that party exist anymore) and Democrats. The former have become hostile to our laws and institutions to the point of ignoring them to achieve their narrow political objectives. The latter are fools who are costing us elections.

Again, thanks for visiting, and I hope you'll come back. By the way, anyone can read my content, but the way the platform works is that you have to subscribe (free, anyway) if you want to make comments.
